Physicians at the LaFortune Cancer Center participate in clinical trials sponsored by the
National Cancer Institute. The cancer research office facilitates patients’ participation in clinical trials and assists physicians.
Clinical trials help physicians to develop new treatments for cancer. Many of today’s standard cancer treatments, treatments that are widely used by medical professionals, are based on the results of previous clinical trials. Clinical trials are available that may offer the latest developments in prevention and treatment. For more information about clinical trials, please contact your physician.
Participation
Patients are referred to clinical trials by their oncologist. Patient participation is voluntary. A member of the research team is available to discuss the trial with the patient and provide detailed information to assist the patient in making an informed choice regarding participation.
